How was Linus first season in Indy Car? Let’s look through the numbers!
Total standings
Linus finished 16.th in the overall championship. Just a few points short of seasoned drivers like F1 driver and Indy 500 winner Marcus Ericsson. A totally ok results for a rookie driver.
Let’s look at some additional highlights.
Pole positions
Linus earned one P1 and two podiums during the year.
Second half of the season climb
After an intence first half of the season, Linus was on 19.th spot overall. After the season break, he came back strong.
“I actually got some time to go back and really ask myself, ‘What did I really learn?’ And then to try to apply it,” Lundqvist said. “Obviously, it’s not perfect, because we didn’t win races, but I think we definitely took a step in the right direction.”

Surprise: Oval results
This is the real kicker.
Indy car runs on three different course types, road courses, street courses and ovals. Linus has through the years racked up plenty of experience on the first two course types. But oval racing is something new, a unique charachteristic of American racing. It’s a course type some seasoned F1 drivers avoid. Interestingly, Linus performed really well on ovals.
Key takeaway: Linus is a fast learner.
Overtake at S:t Luis
If you found the above by the numbers summary a bit dry – then this hairy overtake of Colton Herta during the final laps of S:t Luis Bommarito 500 (a sure contender for the overtake of the season) – might convince you Linus is the real deal.
Even with a solid performance like the 2024 season, nothing is guaranteed in terms of securing driver seats during 2025. But Linus have proven he has what it takes to compete, and win at the very top of formula racing.
